-Liz- One of my reading strategies is trying to visualize the pictures in my head while I am reading, it might be a little weird to use that strategy on A Wrinkle in Time since it's fictional, but it still helps me think about the setting, antagonist, protagonist, and the conflict a lot.

ReplyDeleteI think a good reading strategy is to be able to connect the story to your life.........I use it a lot! It helps me "feel" the book because I have experienced it.......It really lets me think about how the charcter(s) are feeling......What it does, is that it lets you travel into the book, get into the shoes of the character, connect to what you have experienced, and relate it to the story.......It awakens the mysteries of the book by comparing what has happened in your life to what is going to happen in the story..........This strategy helps you interact with the book so you have a "vibe" to it when you are reading!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteOne reading strategy for me is that I like to read how ever many pages of a book that I can and then I take a brake, but as soon as I'm done doing that I get back to reading the book. I tend to get a lot more done that way.

ReplyDeleteIn Chapter I, Mrs. Whatsit says, "speaking of ways...there is such a thing as a tesseract." Then, Mrs. Murry turns very white and responds "The tesseract...What did she mean? How could she have known?" (p. 18-19).
After watching the video and learning about the tesseract in Chapter 1 (you'll learn more about it as you continue to read), respond to any of the following questions with at least 3 sentences explaining your response.
1. What did you find most interesting about the tesseract?
2. How might the Professor's explanation of the tesseract be similar or different to the tesseract in the novel?

DeleteWell... I never visualized the tesseract in a 4 dimension i just thought of it as a cube, but now looking at this i can actually sort of visualize the tesseract. It was also interesting how the professor said even a person like Einstein can not perceive the nature of a 4 dimension.

What I found most interesting about the tesseract was that it was 4 dimensions. I thought it was interesting when he drew the tesseract and showed it on the computer, it showed that you could look at it in many different ways.(sometimes you could look at it as a hexagon or you could sometimes look at it as a cube) I also thought that the tesseract was a cube, until after the video, when I finally understood what a tesseract really looked like! :)

DeleteWell I think it is interesting because you are not thinking 4D, we are not 4D. Also it is easy in math and yet it is confusing in like geometrical figure. And on the computer when it is rotating it you can not really see were the cube went.
